581 is proud to announce an exhibition of four emerging artists: Nic Blouin, Gilbert Andrew Flores, Heins Kim and Joe Maller.

The exhibition features new artwork from a wide range of disciplines including painting, sculpture, mixed- and new media. The work presents uncommon viewpoints as diverse and challenging as the artists themselves.

581 is an artist run initiative. Together the artists secured a space and produced all the exhibition materials. This is not a group show, it is four individuals gathered through a collective desire to exhibit new work.

When the space became available, it was abandoned and had been vacant for several years. The artist's renovation and preparation of this space goes beyond the standard guerrilla exhibition and raises the ante of what an autonomous, self-run show can be.

The works will be on view September 10-28, 1997, Noon-6:00pm, Wednesday-Sunday; or by appointment. An opening reception will be held Thursday, September 11, 7--9:00pm.

581 is located on the fifth floor of 581 Sixth Avenue, between 16th and 17th streets in New York City. There is a public elevator and the exhibition is wheel-chair accessible.
