The design is apparently based upon work by Sean Frawley and Dan Getz while in high school. Their work is said to be based on a 19th century french invention.

Meb and Ryan Hall just beat me by 5 minutes. Per mile. Very cool to be in the same run as the US Olympic marathon team, one of the benefits of running in nyc, almost makes up for never finishing in the top 2500.
Totally barefoot again. I had some sort of twinge or clicking over the middle of my left foot around mile 5 which had me a bit freaked out into the finish. It was a little sore afterwards, but nothing unusual. Still nothing weird a few hours later. I did run a lot more miles than usual this past week, and some aches are to be expected, but I'm going to take it easy for a few days and make sure it's alright.
Official results: 56:37, 9:07/mile. 4250 of 7918 runners, 2906 of 4181 men, 397 of 566 in the 40-44 age group. Splits were 9:29, 9:12, 9:08, 8:52, 8:33 and 8:54.
