Even then, I would occasionally still have collisions that would bork Mail.app. Frustrating. I'll try the IMAP-IDLE plugin and see if that helps - thanks for the tip! I see additional entries in the console log that I assume are form the plugin, but I still see the warning above and new mail is only sporadically delivered. Back to the drawing board for me.
