I've been trying for weeks on and off to sort out this ringtone issue :( finally this method was the only one that worked for me (after following the create aac - change file extension, drag into itunes etc). Once the song is in the ringtones folder, changing the extension back to m4a was the only way to get the ringtone to sync in to my iphone I’m really sorry Nick.
