First credible iPhone activation tip I’ve seen

Something to try when I’m home and have a dependable connection:

iPhone activation tip
Apparently the secret to getting your iPhone activated as soon as possible is to leave it plugged into your computer and connected to iTunes until activation is complete. A support person from AT&T told me that the their system works by going through a queue and pinging every unactivated phone in turn to activate them. If the system can’t see your phone, you lose your place in the queue and have to wait for the next time.

I’m still doubtful, but it can’t hurt to try.

  • Something else, but only for fun, I read on the Apple forums but it works. Drag a handful of music files to your iPhone icon in iTunes. They will sync up. Next, move the slider to emergency mode. Plug your headphones in. Then click the switch on the headphone wire. Viola, a $600 iPhone shuffle!

  • Ok, that’s just hilarious. At least something works.

  • Most of the advance press said that they “preferred that you go home and activate via iTunes” but that clearly many would want to do it while standing in front of the Apple Store right after they bought it.

Note to self: activate via iTunes.
