Who is Joe Maller?
Describing myself never gets any easier. In addition to a brief
current bio, educational information and an exhibition listing,
I've also posted some old biographies I found. In retrospect, some
of them seem pompous and absurd, but others are actually kind of
good.
joemaller.com - July
2000
I'm currently in production on two new film projects, as well as
returning to work on several scuptural projects, drawings and stories.
I've also been quite busy with several design jobs. Additionally,
I'm working with Bruce Heavin
on a followup video to Advanced Photoshop 5.5 for Lynda.com.
Somehow I've found the time to travel quite a bit this year, including
California, Germany, Mexico and soon Portugal, Moracco, Boston and
New Hampshire. I don't sleep all that much.

Joe
Maller doesn't catagorize well. His creative activity takes many
forms ranging from art and design to writing and film. A passionate
curiosity and neurotic fascination unifies all his work.
Joe's video work has been shown at the Knitting Factory and Artist's
Space. In 1997, Joe co-organized 581, a multi-disciplinary guerilla
exhibition, with Nic Blouin, Gilbert Flores and Heins Kim.
Joe participated in the Edgewise Digital Media Conference Three4All
sponsored by United Digital Artists. His work was featured in the
best selling book Designing Web Graphics.2 by Lynda Weinman.
In 1998 he shared a Communication Arts Award of Excellence in
Design with his wife Michelle Marks.
Joe receieved a BFA with honors from Art Center College of Design.

Joe
Maller was raised in a master-planned community in Southern California,
just outside the gates of Disneyland, he claims that he was born
in New York City at the age of 23.
An occasionally neurotic conceptual tinkerer, Joe's work is driven
by a patient, yet anxious curiosity. Often working with and repeating
common and ideal everyday objects, thoughts and situations; he uses
his wit and ideas to transform them into commentaries and meditations
about ourselves and our place in the world. He received his BFA
in 1993.
